NBA's first teen to notch triple-double

On February 7, 2019, Markelle was traded to the Orlando Magic. Markelle made his debut for the Magic in the season opener October 23, 2019, scoring 12 points and making the ESPN top plays at number 4.
Entering the NBA draft he was selected as the 1st overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers. In April 2018, Markelle recorded his first triple-double, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to do so.
Markelle attended DeMatha Catholic High School from 2012 through 2016. Markelle played on the Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams while at DeMatha. In his Senior year, Markelle averaged 16.8 ppg, 7.9 rpg and 4.3 apg and was named Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) Player of the Year. While at DeMatha he set the record for Stags’ single-season for assists (278). He was a 2016 McDonald's All-American and 2016 Jordan Brand Classic All American. During the summer before his senior year he was selected to be a member of the USA's FIBA Americas Under-18 Team. Markelle was the leading scorer in the teams championship game in which they won the gold medal and he was named the MVP for the Under 18 tournament.
As a stand out student athlete for the Stag's he was offered an abundance of college scholarships. In August 2015, Markelle verbally committed to the University of Washington Huskies. During Markelle's one year as a Huskie, he was recognized for his scoring, athleticism, and quickly emerged as one of the top pro prospects in the country. Markelle averaged 23.2 ppg, 5.7 apg and 5.9 rpg in his freshman year with the Huskies. He was named to the First-Team All Pac-12 and Third-team All-American.
